In today's fast paced life it is very easy to get taken away from the present moment. When we wake in the morning our minds are already preparing for the day hours in the future. We are constantly preoccupied with our finances, our occupations, our families, our social obligations and we miss out on what experiences are happening right now. When we do not allow ourselves to recharge and just be, serious symptoms of stress occur; lack of or poor quality sleep, irritability, over/under eating, high blood pressure, anxiety and depression.
Practicing mindfulness develops skills of resiliency that will assist you in reconnecting with the present moment. A way to recharge so you are able to respond to life rather than react to it. You will learn how the breath is the gateway in conditioning your body, emotions, sensations and thoughts and over time be aware of each passing moment. "Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts. Whenever your mind becomes scattered, use your breath as the means to take hold of your mind again" |
